POM Limburg promotes Health Campus in San Francisco
The JP Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco annually attracts leaders, investors, and professionals from the healthcare industry. Recent developments, strategies, and innovations are presented here, with a focus on networking, attracting investments, and sharing knowledge.
BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES
In San Francisco, POM Limburg is joined by representatives of several Limburg-based companies, including Arnold & Siedsma, Van Havermaet, and pharmaceutical companies BioStrand, Rejuvenate Biomed, ANeuroTech, and Amador. Together, they are exploring new business opportunities. Health Campus manager Roeland Buckinx states, “In addition to individual participation in panel discussions and events, we are activating the Limburg network here in San Francisco. Over the past years, we have met international partners, including here in the United States, and we are leveraging these contacts to further expand our network and attract investors for the Limburg biomedical sector.”
RINGING A BELL
Important partners also include the Flemish organizations Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) and Flanders.bio. Roeland Buckinx emphasizes, “Abroad, the name ‘Limburg’ usually doesn’t immediately ring a bell, but within the life sciences, Flanders is well known. So it is important to first generate interest in Flanders and then highlight Limburg as a strategic location. FIT is a valuable partner in this regard.”
OWN EVENT
As the cherry on top, POM Limburg also organized its own gathering during the event, titled “Connecting Clusters of Excellence.” Roeland Buckinx explains, “Together with our Limburg partners and international connections from Louisiana, Los Angeles, and Korea, as well as the international law firm Sidley, we organized a successful panel discussion. We provided insight into the Belgian and European markets, shared experiences of Limburg-based companies regarding internationalization, and offered expertise on taxation and intellectual property.”
CRUCIAL SECTOR
The life sciences sector has a strong international focus. Deputy for Economy and chairman of POM Limburg Tom Vandeput says, “Life sciences and healthcare innovation are crucial for the economic development of Limburg. Flanders is already strong internationally in this sector, and with the Health Campus, Limburg is now positioning itself as a growth hub for life sciences. By strengthening our international network, we not only support Limburg-based companies in making new contacts but also position Limburg as an attractive investment location in Flanders.”
